Conscious Trap is a lifestyle; a paradoxical reality; an authentic expression of the undeniable duality of both the ratchetness & righteousness of our existence. The trap culture has often been stereotyped by abandoned houses, illegal transactions, Box Chevy's, big rims & loud music amidst the odor of Black & Mild smoke in the air. However, many times the sensationalized stigma causes us to overlook the creativity, dedication, work ethic, managerial skills, networking ability, business savvy and hidden consciousness of the trap.
Growing up in the city that pioneered trap culture, you learn extremely fast that the "trap" is not limited to any one particular idea the media props up. Much in the same way that trap culture may sometimes consist of gold fronts, fresh clothes & boxes of cigarillos, the culture also represents the innate consciousness of the little kid buying candy wholesale from the store to trap in school; or the single mom trappin' weave and styling hair as a side hustle. Similar to many other things in life, the "trap" is really what you make it.
Malcolm X taught, "Don't be in a hurry to condemn because [someone] doesn't do what you do or think as you think. There was once a time when you didn't know what you know today." Here at Conscious Trap Apparel, we firmly believe in Malcolm's philosophy of not jumping to condemnation of our brother and sisters, making us a brand that encompasses all different levels of the Black Consciousness
